growing rooted: welcoming my husband jesse to our landscape design and construction team

rooted outdoor living has always been something very personal to me. it started as a vision of creating beautiful outdoor spaces where people could slow down, spend time outside, and reconnect with nature. over the years, that vision has grown into a landscape design and landscape construction company serving homeowners throughout naperville, aurora, plainfield, batavia, geneva, wheaton, downers grove, lisle, and the western suburbs of chicago.

today marks a really special milestone for rooted. my husband, jesse, officially joined the team, and it’s his first day working alongside me. bringing him into the business feels incredibly meaningful. rooted has always been grounded in family values, and having the chance to build something together that reflects the way we live, work, and care about people feels like the most natural next step for our company.

as rooted outdoor living continues to grow, so do the number of landscape installation projects, outdoor living spaces, and custom landscape designs we’re creating for clients across the western suburbs of chicago. jesse will be stepping into a leadership role overseeing our landscape construction crews, coordinating materials, supporting job site logistics, and helping the shop run as efficiently as possible so our projects flow smoothly from design to installation.

jesse brings a lot to the table. before joining rooted, he worked with an organization where he managed up to 30 people, so leadership and team coordination are second nature to him. he’s also one of those rare people who can connect easily with just about anyone. he genuinely enjoys people, which is something that matters deeply in a service-based business like landscape design and construction. our clients in naperville, aurora, plainfield, geneva, wheaton, batavia, lisle, and downers grove will definitely feel that warmth and approachability when they interact with him.

another thing i love about jesse is how naturally connected he is to the outdoors. he’s happiest outside, working with his hands, solving problems, and building things that last. he also has a strong art and design background, which gives him an appreciation for thoughtful landscape design and the details that make outdoor spaces feel cohesive and intentional. he understands that a well-built patio, outdoor living space, or planting design is not just about construction - it’s about creating places where families gather, relax, and make memories.

from a practical standpoint, jesse can fix or operate just about any piece of equipment you put in front of him. whether it’s managing machinery, troubleshooting on a job site, or helping crews stay organized, he takes pride in doing things the right way. that commitment to quality construction and craftsmanship aligns perfectly with the values rooted outdoor living was built on.

most importantly, bringing jesse into the business allows us to strengthen the installation side of rooted while keeping the heart of the company the same. my focus will continue to be landscape design and working closely with clients to create personalized outdoor spaces, while jesse helps guide our landscape construction team to ensure every project is installed with care and attention to detail.

for me, this isn’t just about growing a landscape design company in the western suburbs of chicago. it’s about building something meaningful together as a family. rooted outdoor living has always been about creating outdoor environments that bring people together, and now that mission feels even more personal as jesse and i step into this next chapter side by side.

i’m incredibly excited about what this means for our clients and for the future of rooted outdoor living.
