why i love what i do: when landscape designs become art
one of the most special parts of working in landscape design and construction around naperville, aurora, yorkville, plainfield, batavia, geneva, glen ellyn, wheaton, downers grove, lisle, and the western suburbs of chicago is getting to see how deeply people connect with their outdoor spaces. over the years, i’ve had several clients tell me they want to frame their custom landscape design and hang it on their wall, and honestly…that never gets old. it’s such a huge compliment and one i don’t take lightly. to me, it means the design didn’t just check boxes—it actually meant something.
when i walk into a design presentation, i’m bringing so much more than just a landscape plan. there’s a lot of listening, observing, and piecing together how someone wants to live in their outdoor space. whether it’s a patio design in plainfield, a backyard transformation in naperville, or a full landscape installation in aurora or yorkville, every detail is intentional. when i leave those meetings feeling that sense of alignment—like they feel heard and understood and excited—it fills me up in the best way. it’s that moment where thoughtful landscape design meets real life.
in so many of the projects i take on across batavia, geneva, glen ellyn, wheaton, downers grove, and lisle, the goal is always the same: to create outdoor living spaces that feel natural, personal, and lasting. not just something that looks good for a season, but something that becomes part of the home. that’s why i put so much energy into every planting plan, hardscape layout, and material selection. it all adds up to a space that feels like it truly belongs.
one homeowner in yorkville really stuck with me. she was incredibly kind from the very beginning, just one of those people who makes the whole process feel easy. months after we finished her landscape installation, she sent me a simple text—a photo of her framed landscape design hanging on her wall. no big explanation, just that image. and it said everything. it made my week, honestly probably longer than that. those are the moments that remind me why i do this.
so to all of my clients throughout the western suburbs of chicago—naperville, aurora, yorkville, plainfield, batavia, geneva, glen ellyn, wheaton, downers grove, and lisle—thank you. thank you for trusting me with your homes, your ideas, and your outdoor spaces. thank you for being open to the process and for seeing the value in thoughtful landscape design and construction. you are truly my “why,” and i’m so grateful to be a part of creating spaces you love.
