the people behind every landscape we build

we’ve been thinking a lot lately about how lucky we are to have the crew we do. they have worked incredibly hard this summer, and we truly appreciate everything they bring to every landscape project. there are so many parts of landscape design and construction that happen behind the scenes, and our crew is the group that turns all of those plans, drawings, ideas, and materials into something real.

jesse is on site with the crew every day, so he sees firsthand the skill and dedication they bring to every job. i get to see it in different ways as i move between design, clients, materials, scheduling, and the finished projects, and together we both see just how much care they put into their work. they show up on time every day, work hard through long days and hot weather, pay attention to the details, and take pride in doing things the right way.

they also bring something to our projects that can’t really be measured on a plan or written into a contract. they care. they offer ideas and input, they notice things that might make a project better, and they take ownership of the work they are doing. they are incredibly kind to our homeowners and to each other, and their dedication is something we notice and appreciate every single day.

residential landscape construction is hard work. our crews are moving stone, preparing planting beds, grading, planting trees and shrubs, building patios and seating areas, installing walkways, and creating outdoor living spaces in all kinds of weather. the beautiful landscapes our clients see at the end of a project are the result of many hours of skilled, physical work behind the scenes. our crew handles that work with an impressive level of professionalism and care.

this summer has included landscape installations throughout naperville, aurora, plainfield, yorkville, batavia, geneva, glen ellyn, wheaton, downers grove, lisle, and other western suburbs of chicago. every property is different, but the same level of effort goes into each one. whether we’re building a stone patio, creating a new planting design, installing large trees and shrubs, or completing a full backyard transformation, our crew approaches the work with the same commitment.

we’re also grateful that jesse is able to be out there with them every day. having someone from our family and leadership team on site means we get to experience the projects alongside the crew, solve problems together, and see the progress as it happens. it also means we get to know the people doing the work—not just as employees, but as the talented, hardworking, thoughtful people they are.

we couldn’t do what we do without them. landscape design may begin with an idea on paper, but it takes an incredibly dedicated team to bring that idea to life. we are so grateful for the long days, the hard work, the input, the kindness, and the pride they bring to every installation. we appreciate our crew more than they probably realize, and we feel very fortunate to have them representing rooted outdoor living on every project.
